Powerplay Studio Collab: Backline & Microphone placement
Together with Powerplay, we’re inviting FINTA members to a hands-on workshop focused on backline and studio microphone placement.
The workshop will take place at the legendary Powerplay Studios and will be led by Martina Stutz and Anna Schmid. It’s designed for anyone who wants to expand their technical knowledge in live and studio settings—prior experience is welcome but not required.
In the first part of the workshop, we’ll work together to set up a complete band setup in the recording studio, similar to what you’d find at a festival or a live production. We’ll explore the various components of a backline using riders and stage plans, signal paths, cabling, and efficient setup and organizational workflows.
In the second part, the focus will be on microphone placement for studio recordings. Together, we’ll explore how to mic the band setup we’ve built to achieve high-quality recordings, which microphones are suitable for different instruments, and what to pay special attention to regarding positioning, signal routing, and recording quality.
The workshop offers plenty of opportunities for hands-on participation, questions, and direct interaction with the workshop leaders.
